Hair Professional Apprenticeship: Our EPA Results Are In!
14.10.2024
Collinge & Co Training are pleased to announce that the EPAs for our 2023-2024 Hair Professional apprentices are complete! We are very proud of our apprentices for their efforts and accomplishments throughout their training and we cannot wait to see what the future holds for them.
This blog will give an overview of how achievement is measured for apprenticeships and how this year’s apprentices performed. If you’d like to learn more about our Hair Professional Apprenticeship or Advanced and Creative Hair Professional Apprenticeship, read our programme guides here.
End-Point Assessments
End-point assessments, or EPAs, are independent assessments that take place at the end of an apprenticeship and test the knowledge and skills an apprentice has learned throughout their training. EPAs are graded either a pass, merit or distinction and include:- A knowledge test
- A practical exam, observed by an independent assessor
- Questioning by the assessor to examine technical knowledge and application
- A professional discussion with an assessor
Gateway
Gateway is the point at which apprentices finish their apprenticeship and begin preparing to take their end-point assessments. In order to reach Gateway, apprentices must have completed all of their training and e-portfolio tasks, which include practical skill assessments, written tests and assigned projects.
Of our 2023-2024 apprentices, 100% of learners who reached Gateway achieved their EPA.
Achievement rate
Achievement rate is defined by how many apprentices complete their training and pass their end-point assessment. Out of our 2023-2024 cohort, 71.6% of apprentices who enrolled on the Hair Professional course successfully completed their apprenticeships, significantly higher than the national achievement rate of 54%.
