Smoothing services
At Collinge & Co, we offer two smoothing treatment systems across different salon locations. Each system includes multiple service levels, so your stylist can recommend an option that fits your hair and your goals.

Hair Smoothing FAQs

Smoothing treatments are professional, in-salon services that use biotechnological formulas to temporarily adjust the structure of the hair.
In most cases, smoothing treatments can help to smooth the hair fibre, reduce frizz and flyaways, improve manageability and ease of styling, and enhance shine and overall hair appearance.
-
Smoothing treatments are designed to reduce frizz, soften the hair fibre, and improve manageability, without permanently changing your hair texture. You can still wear your natural movement, or choose a sleeker blow-dry when you want it. Traditional straightening services typically aim to permanently change the shape of the hair.
-
It depends on the service chosen and your hair type. Some treatments are designed as a short-term refresh (for example, up to six shampoos). Others can last for several months, with our longest-lasting options typically lasting around 4–6 months.

Smoothing treatments may be a good option if you notice frizz (especially in humid weather), spend a lot of time styling each day, or you would like your waves or curls to feel softer and be easier to manage. They’re also a great choice if you want flexibility: you can enjoy a smoother natural finish, or a sleek blow-dry when you feel like it.
If your hair is thicker or coarser, a smoothing treatment can help with day-to-day manageability, while still keeping movement and versatility.
Smoothing treatments can be tailored to a wide range of hair types, from fine hair that is prone to frizz through to thicker, more textured hair.

Yes, a consultation must be carried out prior to a smoothing service. During a consultation, your stylist will assess your hair type and condition, talk through the result you would like, and recommend the most suitable option for your routine and how long you’d like your results to last.

We understand that not all hair is created equal. If you've got particularly long or thick hair or you have extensions, our services can be extended to accommodate the extra time and product needed.
If you think your hair falls under one of these categories, please book the Long or Thick option for your preferred service to ensure enough time can be allocated for your appointment.
