Wondering what to take with you? Read our Festival Hair Survival Guide for our top picks of what to pack for great festival hair.
Mini Braids
Always a favourite amongst festivalgoers, braids are a simple and versatile style that can be easily dressed up with ribbons, glitter, bows and more. They’re also a perfect way of getting your hair up and away from your face, perfect for those warmer (or windier!) days. We love these mini braids seen on Anya Taylor Joy at Glastonbury, which demonstrate how you can keep your hair out of your face whilst still keeping it down.
We’ve seen a big resurgence in 90s hair, including microbraids, butterfly clips, layered bobs and chunky highlights. It’s no surprise that these styles have found their way back into festival hair over the past few years, We loved these braided front-pieces seen on Kesha.
Braids are also perfect for prepping your hair for future festival days, adding some texture and wave if you leave it in all day or night.
Beachy waves
Beachy waves are an absolute festival classic and can be created without heat, making them perfect for festival camping. They’re perfect for that boho-chic, effortlessly cool look that goes so well with mini braids, hats and other accessories. For a low-effort beachy wave without heat, you can braid your hair the night before and sleep in it, so that your hair is ready to go when you are.
Another way we love of creating heatless waves is by using fabric (or 'rag) curls. These can also be comfortably slept in, and just need to be taken out when you're ready to style your hair.
You can see our tutorial for creating fabric curls here, or watch below.
Accessories
Accessories are another staple of festival fashion. Florence Pugh was spotted bringing back the oversized flower crown, and oversized bows were seen on many performers and festival goers. As we said in our {festival hair survival kit}, hair accessories are a must-pack for us as they’re easy to pack and make dressing up simpler styles effortless.
Cowboy hats are also here to stay! As seen on Shania, Megan Fox and Paris Hilton, cowboy hats and Western influences are very popular this festival season. They’re perfect for keeping you cool on hotter days, enhancing your outfit and covering your roots if your hair has lost some volume or isn’t as fresh.
Another reason we love cowboy hats, and oversized hats in general, is that they provide additional protection for your hair, scalp and skin against the sun’s UV rays.

Sleek styles
It’s no secret that we’ve been fans of super sleek hairstyles this year, so it’s a given that they’d be one of our favourite festival styles. They’re easy to create, maintain and adapt to your style, so they’re a winner in our books.
They’re also a great option for later festival days when your hair might not be as fresh as you’d like. Hair with products already added, or less fresh hair, is good for creating up-dos as it has more grip, so consider planning a hair-up day on a multi-day festival.
